It is with regret that we are announcing that we will be closing our project “Dorset Macmillan Advocacy” in January 2019, due to a lack of funding. Over the last five years Dorset Macmillan Advocacy (DMA) has helped hundreds of individuals in a wide variety of ways with the challenges they face as a result of a cancer diagnosis. Our award-winning volunteers, who all have experience of cancer themselves, have shown outstanding commitment and have made a very real difference to the people they support.

We are committing to continue to work with people who are currently receiving Advocacy support from staff and volunteers, but will not be accepting any new referrals from Monday the 26th November onwards. We may still be able to offer some Advocacy to people with cancer, through one of our other Advocacy projects; please call our Gateway on 0300 343 7000 for more information. We are also able to direct people to local cancer support services who may be able to help.

Finally, we want to say a very big “Thank You!” to Macmillan Cancer Support, who made this project possible in the first place, and to our partners Help and Care, who played a vital role in providing Advocacy and support for volunteers.
