Direct Payments Advice and Guidance
Make the most of your Direct Payment or Personal Health Budget
What are Direct Payments?
Direct Payments and Personal Health Budgets are sums of money allocated to people who have community care needs. They enable the individual to choose who supports them or provides their care, and how this support is given, giving much more freedom and flexibility.
Making Direct Payments work for you
Direct Payments help people to have choice and independence, but managing direct payments is not always easy. Dorset Advocacy’s Direct Payments Advice and Guidance scheme is for people who use Direct Payments to employ their own person assistants. We can help you to understand and manage:
How does the scheme work?
When you choose Dorset Advocacy as your Advice and Guidance provider, we will allocate you a named Guidance Worker. They will usually aim to meet with you within 10 days of your enquiry.
Your worker will listen to the points you want help with, and agree an action plan with you. They will stay in touch as they find out the information you need. They will give you full and accurate information, and in a form that you can easily use.
We cannot help with payroll issues, nor can we give legal advice, but we can signpost you to help with these and other matters.
