Remembering life stories and planning good futures

The Memory Network is a unique scheme that seeks to ensure that the memories, wishes and interests of people with memory loss continue to matter even when the person themselves can no longer voice them.

Trained volunteers are offering one-to-one support to people who have memory loss, to help them to remember and capture the memories that matter most to them - the things that make them who they are.

These 'life stories' will form a lasting record that will inform the planning of the person's care and support in the years to come.

The latest technology will help people recall and record their memories. Tablet computers will give older people access to a vast range of materials from the past, and enable them to add their own pictures, and thoughts.

Can we help you?

If you or someone you care for has memory loss, the Memory Network could be a great way to share memories, to produce a life story for family and friends to enjoy, and to make sure that carers now and in the future understand who you are and what you want.

To find out about making a life story, please contact us on 0300 343 7000, or email [email protected].  We look forward to hearing from you!

Our project partners are the Older People’s Advocacy Alliance (OPAAL) who will be evaluating the impact of our life story work, and Poole Council for Voluntary Service who will be looking at what our volunteers have learned from their roles. We are grateful to the project funders: HSCVF Local Volunteering Fund, and Dorset Community Foundation.

We are now recruiting and training volunteers for this ground-breaking project. If you would like to get involved, please complete the form below.  To speak with Project Co-ordinator Julie Moverley please call 07779 222009.

By completing this form you consent to Dorset Advocacy keeping a record of the details you have provided.  Dorset Advocacy complies with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.  For more details, please contact the office on the number above.
