Equality for parents who have learning disabilities
The Voicing Family Rights project is now complete, though we still wish to continue supporting parents with learning disabilities.
Voicing Family Rights was a new way of working with parents who have learning disabilities. Rather than providing one-
The project had four key outcomes:
o Helping parents with learning disabilities from across Dorset, Poole and Bournemouth to develop a Charter of Rights
o Using this as the basis for developing a protocol with local health and care agencies to commit them to working with parents in a way that is person-
o Training agency staff in the new standards adopted in the protocol, so that these standards quickly become a reality
o Developing person centred-

Our project consultant was Les Bright, who will be evaluating what we achieve. Les is part of BCD Care Associates and has extensive experience of consultancy in the advocacy sector.
