IMCA pilot starts 3 January (Michael Pochin)
Posted: 4:23:36 pm on 12/20/2005 Modified: Never

The IMCA pilot in South West Dorset starts on 3 January 2006.  From that date, any person living in the South West Dorset PCT area, or staying at a hospital in the area, must be referred to IMCA if they have the needs set out by the Department of Health.  For more information about who can get support from IMCA, and how to refer, please go to www.dorsetadvocacy.co.uk/imca

IMCA will be a new kind of advocacy, and will require a new kind of collaboration between health and social services and IMCA providers.  Dorset Advocacy welcomes your thoughts on how to get the best from IMCA.  Please use this discussion board to make comments and suggestions, or to ask questions.  We shall read all submissions, and try to reply to them all as well!

it is worth noting that as from April next year the use of IMCAs will be a statutary requierement and so we do need a debate to be ongoing as to how this should be used.

Dear Mike

we have just been awarded the IMCA contract for Bristol and i am keen to make contact with other people in the south west who will be running schemes with a view to sharing policy and practice ideas.  If anyone else out there has heard yet about their contract it'd be great to hear from you.

regards

Tom
