Dorset Forum started earlier this year. We have had four committee meetings and are planning our first big meeting in February 2003.
The 9 committee members were chosen by day centres and speaking up groups and we hope to elect three more members soon.
So far this year the committee has been involved in consultations with the Social Services Inspectorate, West Dorset District Council, “Paying for Services" and a Partnership Board sub-group about Day Services and has reviewed a number of documents to report on how easy they are to understand.

We would like to start more speaking up groups around the county so that more people can be involved in consultation without having to travel too far. These groups will share information with the Dorset Forum which will in turn link with the Bournemouth and Poole Forums, the South West Forum and the National Forum.
