Moving On from Hospital Living

The government has said that anyone with a learning disability who is living in a hospital campus should move out by 2010. The aim is to provide new houses and a choice of support services, so that everyone is living in their own home with the right support.

There are about 150 people in Dorset who need to move as part of this project.

Dorset Advocacy are playing an important part by providing advocacy and by helping people to write “Individual Service Designs”. This will mean that more people will get the services that they want and need.

The project is being funded by NHS Dorset, NHS Bournemouth and Poole, Dorset Adult and Community Services and Poole Social Services.
