Well Done Mike !!

Our very own Mike Pochin recently completed his Diploma in Independent Advocacy, accredited by City and Guilds; he was one of the first advocates in the South West to do so. The Diploma is a new national qualification, created with funding from the Department of Health. It was developed to help ensure that advocates across the country have a good level of skills and knowledge.
The Diploma consists of four core advocacy units, plus specialist units covering Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS). To gain accreditation advocates must write assignments and detailed journal entries which are then analysed by an independent assessor.
All the other members of our Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy team are working towards the Diploma and will be completing it in the next few months.
Mike is shown with Paul Robottom, City and Guilds Development Manager, at the recent awards ceremony.
