Dorset Advocacy Wins Transition Fund Backing
We have just heard that we have been successful in our bid to the Government’s Transition Fund. We have been awarded just over £70,000 for the coming year to develop further the contribution that volunteers make to our organisation. Volunteers already provide support to around 40 people who have learning difficulties; now we want to develop roles with older and disabled people too, where volunteers will be helping to resolve problems to do with personal support and care, housing and health, among other issues. We will also be developing new roles for volunteers to support our admin and fundraising teams.
Development Manager Michael Pochin said ‘Dorset Advocacy is a group that is of and for the local community. This funding will allow us to involve more members of the community in ensuring fairness, respect and opportunity for all.’
Welcome to Alison
Welcome to Alison Laurie, who has just joined us as our Marketing Officer. Alison
is studying for a PR degree at Bournemouth University, and will be helping us on
a voluntary basis for the coming year. With Alison in post, these pages and our
Facebook page will be updated on a much more regular basis -

Annual General Meeting 2011
Thank you to everyone who attended our AGM last Friday. A great day was had by all, and the unexpected heat wave meant the gardens of the Orangery Suite were fully embraced. I think we all agreed that there is an exciting year ahead of us, as well as lots of work to do. Get a full overview and the presentations HERE >
